Patrick and Darren's songs tap into a lingering sense that the veil between worlds is more threadbare than we'd like to admit. They are inhabited by haunted characters, inky black nights of the soul and images that seem to waver between the world we see and the worlds we pass through. The result is a lush, delicate take on psychadelic pop, with nods to forebearers like Scott Walker, Leonard Cohen and Syd Barret.Their latest EP, which is currently out of print is entitled The Dark Lord (of love). Buy it on Emusic, iTunes and everywhere else in the digital world.

"Troubadour Patrick Bower, along with his band The World Without Magic, weaves a tale that lives up to its name with the track "The Dark Lord (of Love)." It's scintillating dark pop that brings to mind Scott Walker, Serge Gainsbourg and Harry Nilsson."
- Plug In Music
"When Bower sings “Why am I bleeding at the jaw? I have kissed her and paid so dearly for it,” you are aware that Bower approaches the sacred right of love like Emile Zola did to the human condition."
- Zaptown Magazine
“Patrick Bower & The World Without Magic waver between exuberance and despair, and maintain a constant tension between these two extremes.”
- Amazon.com
"The Dark Lord (of Love) throws in some really catchy hand claps, which is a total head fuck in a song that otherwise sounds like day four of a meth binge, but it works. It's creepy-catchy and simplistically haunting, yet enticing, like a nightmare with lots of nudity."
- No Depression
"Stylishly moody indie folk"
- Time Out New York
" … lush, bearded folk"
- Brooklyn Vegan
"The pop songwriting is brilliantly disciplined; parts and feelings are meticulously arranged like the adornments of a Victorian parlour room."

- Large Hearted Boy.com
"Tenser than it appears on the surface"
- BiBaBiDi.net
"Hazy songs that sound like ’70s AM radio played at half-speed and hummed along to by lonesome drunks"
